I wonder if this was a test fire for defense against bombing barrages. this event seems to be an outlier since it is has never happened that a bomber of that kind has been affected since 2022. Lucky air defence moment or possible harbinger of what is to come next time a bombing run happens again?

Then there is also another possible more simple explanation that does not even involve ukr forces but that no one would want to admit. S-400 is working as intended on soviet equipment.

If it was Ukr forces, then I'd peg it down to a very lucky shot and a bomber that strayed too far into enemy air defence range.

But yeah, given the history there is a not insignificant chance that it was friendly fire from a Russian S-400
