Most popular smartphone brands in South Africa

Samsung is the most popular smartphone manufacturer in South Africa, according to the latest available data from GlobalStats Statcounter.

The data analytics company uses over five billion monthly page views of around 1.5 million websites to determine the leading brands and vendors in various industries and regions.

"Huawei also sells budget and mid-range devices in South Africa. However, its lack of Google support requires workaround to install many of the most popular apps available on the Google Play Store"

It's a pity because they're probably be #1 the country & #1 in the world, with devices a good 1 or 2 years ahead of other phones (2 or 3 years when talking about Apple)

Xiaomi in South Africa is a complete joke and an utter disappointment - where is the Xiaomi 13? The Xiaomi 14 is about to launch and we will probably no see that either. South Africa has really become a dumping ground for cheep phones with outdated technology. I won't get Apple and I hate Samsung. You have to be crazy to buy Huawei because of their split from Google. Sony is no longer presented in SA. What remains are rebranded junk or you have to import.

Have gone so far as to block all calls from my mobile service provider because frankly, they aren't offering anything I care to know about - not the only reason but, one of the main ones.

I'm very close to dropping my number in favour of an overseas eSim number / package - there really is no point to supporting SA mobile providers anymore!

I'm 100 percent behind you. Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo and the likes don't offer their flagship phones in SA? Can't get answers from Service Providers. I also will never even consider getting an IPhone and Samsungs are overrated and expensive. The flagship phones of Xiaomi are in the same price range or cheaper than Samsung and IPhone, and better, but somehow we only get their crap midrange phones. I would love an answer from anybody. Xiaomi offers their flagship phone in Europe as well.

They're not better.

Not to mention you won't get 7 years of updates like Samsung and Apple etc. etc.
