Uncapped Vodacom LTE packages launched from R299 per month

Internet service provider (ISP) Axxess recently launched a range of capped and uncapped fixed-LTE packages that run on Vodacom’s network.

The ISP has offered LTE plans through MTN and Telkom for years and added packages from Vodacom on 27 February 2024.

As it stands, Vodacom does not offer any uncapped packages through its own retail business, with all Home Internet plans having hard locks that completely cut off access after a certain amount of monthly consumption.

But four uncapped plans are now available on Vodacom’s network through Axxess, with various speeds and fair usage policies (FUPs).

The most affordable is priced at R299 per month and offers speeds of up to 20Mbps for the first 50GB of data consumed in the month.

Thereafter, speeds are throttled to 2Mbps for the remaining usage in the month.

For R100 more per month, customers can get a package with speeds up to 30Mbps and a more relaxed FUP of 150GB before speeds are throttled down to 2Mbps.

At R499 per month, Axxess is offering speeds of up to 50Mbps on the Vodacom LTE network.

This plan comes with a 300GB FUP, which will also limit speeds to 2Mbps.

The last uncapped package is called Pro and is priced at R699 per month.

It has no specified speed limit, so it is likely a best-effort service that can achieve the maximum potential performance of the network within the area where the customer is located.

However, the ISP states that it reserved the right to manage users should it be required.

The FUP on this plan limits speeds to 1Mbps after the first 600GB of consumption in a month.

The table below summarises the uncapped Vodacom Fixed-LTE packages available from Axxess.

Axxess Vodacom Fixed-LTE uncapped plans
Package name and speeds Fair usage policy Monthly price
Up to 20Mbps After 50GB consumption: Throttled to 2Mbps R299
Up to 30Mbps After 150GB consumption: Throttled to 2Mbps R399
Up to 50Mbps After 300GB consumption: Throttled to 2Mbps R499
Pro After 600GB consumption: Throttled to 1Mbps R699

As is the case with mobile broadband products, speeds on all packages may vary based on LTE router capability and coverage.

Axxess told MyBroadband that it recommended using the TP-Link MR600 to access the service.

The ISP offers customers who take up one of its fixed-LTE packages a discounted price of R1,499 on the router.

Other routers that also support the service are as follows:

  • Alcatel Linkhub HH72v
  • Huawei Sharelink B525S-65A
